The Town of Amherstburg is undertaking a review of its Official Plan (OP). From natural heritage preservation, economic development goals and land use, the official plan will provide the framework for growth & development across the Town of Amherstburg until 2051 – a 30-year scope. This new plan will build on the policies & goals outlined in the current plan and will also be a plan for the impacts of a changing climate and economy and the shifting needs of all those who live, work and visit Amherstburg.

In addition to this initiative, when the updated Official Plan is approved, we will review our Zoning Bylaw to ensure it meets the ever-changing dynamics of our business communities and residential needs.

We know that people living and working in Amherstburg are passionate & eager to help us build a healthy, resilient and vibrant future, so we are excited to work together to represent your voice in sparking the vision for the Amherstburg of tomorrow!



1) Our first Public Open House was on Wednesday, July 26th, from 5 pm to 7 pm at The Libro Centre, 3295 Meloche Road. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend this first public engagement. You will find information regarding the presentation in the documents section.

2) Our survey was completed on August 6th, 2023. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their feedback.

3) We collected comments until August 6, 2023. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their feedback.

4) The 3rd Public Open House is postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date.

We look forward to presenting the draft Official Plan background reports on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 5pm to 7pm at the Libro Centre, 3295 Meloche Road. All are welcome.
